Imports

To begin tracking shipments in Gnosis, you must provide:

• Bill of Lading (BL) or Master Bill of Lading (MBL)
• Container number(s) associated with the shipment

These identifiers allow Gnosis to initiate tracking and link operational data across the platform. For import shipments, Gnosis tracks activity at the MBL level, not at the individual container level.

Important Rules

• Containers cannot be tracked without an MBL
• All containers associated with an MBL are:
  • Automatically tracked
  • Counted toward your total tracked container volume (billing)
• An MBL must include a valid SCAC code as the first four characters

• Requires a valid MBL
• You don't have to submit containers individualy and track all containers for a given MBL if you set "track_all_containers" to true
• You can submit one or multiple containers in an MBL request. If you need to add containers to an existing MBL you can use the container tracking request under the Containers section of the API reference: POST /container/create_container_tracking_request/

Tracking Status Responses

Once you've submitted the MBL, you will get a response back with a UUID and a status.

NOTE: We recommend you store all uuids you receive in your responses as these will be the basis for all GET queries in the API.
